The three labels were designed by Spazio di Paolo. During Vinitaly, visitors will also be able to taste new products from the Abruzzo-based cooperative group
Cantina Tollo, the historic cooperative group from Abruzzo, won three Vinitaly Design Awards: the restyling of Mo’ Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva DOP received the gold medal in the Red Wines category; the newly-designed label of Peco Pecorino Terre d’Abruzzo IGT got he silver medal among the White Wines; and the new Hedòs Rosé Terre d’Abruzzo IGT reached the third place in the Rosé Wines category. Now in its 29 th edition, the Vinitaly Design Award celebrates the best label design for wines, spirits, liqueurs, beers, and extra virgin olive oil, aiming to encourage companies and designers to continuously improve their image. Cantina Tollo’s labels were designed by Spazio di Paolo, a world-renowned studio specialising in wine and spirits packaging design. The studio also created the visual identity of the new Hedòs Bianco Terre d’Abruzzo IGP and Passerina Terre d’Abruzzo IGP, as well as the restyling of Maiolica Terre di Chieti IGP. In addition to the award-winning labels, visitors to Cantina Tollo’s stand at Vinitaly will also have the chance to taste new wines. “We are extremely proud that the labels created by Spazio di Paolo for our brand received such prestigious recognition. The award-winning wines, together with our new releases, perfectly represent our company’s production philosophy,” says Sandro Ciavattella, General Manager of Cantina Tollo. “We want to give a new direction and think about a repositioning of the brand, which has always been attentive to market trends while maintaining our identity and the values in which we believe. The wines showcased at Vinitaly respond to new trends and, at the same time, tell about the authenticity and territory to the modern consumer. The label design follows this direction: the new images are elegant, refined and ethereal, illustrating the universe of Cantina Tollo with grace and lightness.” The Vinitaly Design Award-Winning Wines Mo’ in the Abruzzese dialect means “now” or “right away.” True to its name, Mo’ Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva DOP expresses its full potential right from the start: a wine ready to be enjoyed immediately with an intense and persistent sip, while also capable of evolving over time. A classic that continues to succeed year after year with its fruity aromas of black cherry, wild berries, and complex spicy notes. Peco Pecorino Terre di Chieti IGP is the result of the meeting between an ancient grape variety and Cantina Tollo’s mature oenological expertise. The wine, developed through years of research, is versatile in food pairings and offers elegant floral notes combined with the scent of sage. Hedòs Rosé Terre d’Abruzzo IGP is made from Montepulciano grapes. On the nose, it expresses aromas of orange peel, white peach, a hint of grapefruit and elderflower notes. On the palate, fresh acidity blends harmoniously with fruity flavors and a medium body, leading to a long, saline finish. Hedòs Rosé is the perfect match for refined aperitifs, seafood or vegetable starters, fresh salads, and white meats. It also pairs beautifully with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine. The New Wines at Vinitaly Hedòs Bianco Terre d’Abruzzo IGP is a blend of Pecorino and Cococciola grapes, two varieties that thrive in Abruzzo. Pale and luminous yellow in color, on the nose it reveals complex aromas of lemon and grapefruit, with hints of white peach, boxwood, and elderflower. The palate is balanced with a fruity intensity, moderate alcohol, and fresh, saline acidity, ending with a long, persistent finish. It pairs perfectly with light Mediterranean starters, fish stews, fresh salads, and white meats. Passerina Terre d’Abruzzo IGP, made exclusively from Passerina grapes, has a brilliant golden color. In the glass, it offers aromas of citrus, white peach, and elderflower, accompanied by soft notes of almond and chamomile. On the palate, it’s well-balanced with fruitiness, marked acidity, and moderate alcohol level, with a pleasantly phenolic, almondy finish.
